HOW DOES SELF TANNER WORK?
Ever wondered how St.Tropez self tanners work? All of our self and gradual tanners work their magic thanks to two 100% natural, clean and vegan‐friendly tanning actives: DiHydroxyAcetone (DHA) and Melanin. Stay with us, this bit gets a little technical...

WHAT IS DHA?
DHA, or Dihydroxyacetone, is a simple carbohydrate that reacts with the amino acids on the skin, causing the top layer to darken. The result? A gorgeous, golden glow that fades naturally as skin cells regenerate and flake away.

Our DHA is a bi‐product of Sugar Beet sustainably-sourced from the Champagne region. We also process the raw materials in the same area to minimise the environmental impact.

WHAT IS MELAMIN?
Melanin is a natural pigment that determines the colour of your skin, hair and eyes. We use Melanin as a secondary tanning active in our Self Tan Express, Dark and Extra Dark collections to stimulate the synthesis of melanin and naturally darken the skin. We ensure that both our Melanin and DHA are sustainably sourced, using a fermentation process with no chemical and little energy to extract the tanning active.

HOW DOES SELF TANNER WORK?
Combining DHA and Melanin, our self and gradual tanners darken the top layer of the skin to create a gorgeous tan. The best part? Both these tanning actives tailor to your individual skin tone, meaning you’ll always achieve a natural‐looking colour that suits you, so you can glow with confidence all year round.
